desserts and fallen trees

Date: Saturday, September 1, 2007 Categories: dining out, photos

it’s been awhile… mostly cause i’ve been too lazy and i haven’t gone anywhere exciting lately. i only go out when kat dragged me out. like on wednesday (or something) kat wanted to go out and i didn’t want to cause i was lazy. but as always she managed to drag me out by bribing me with food:

Tiramisu @ Palomino. it was HEAVENLY!! i love desserts!

Sushi @ that new place next to Brew Co. it was Yellow Tail, Tuna and Salmon. pretty cute place and the sushi was not too bad. salmon is my favorite fish… cooked or raw it’s always so darn tasty!

she says the ice looked like rolled up condom… you be the judge. and then today she fed me lunch at the hotel she’s working at (as a catering manager!). i got grilled tuna salad but forgot to take pics. damn, kat feeds me well… i should buy HER food some time :P

anyways, after sushi, i went over to kat’s apartment to visit the kitties… and we were greeted by this humongous thing outside:

apparently it spontaneously fell over during the day and crashed onto the building, then sagged there for a couple hours (so they were able to clear the cars parked below the tree) before finally come crashing down. here’s a picture of the resulting damage:

a crushed wall and broken window on the third floor, completely stripped out balcony on the second floor and a section of the water pipe. good thing the tenant of those apartments have just moved out. we got the complete story from the manager of the building, and kat described it as something similar to hearing the titanic drowning. crazyyy huh? and even crazier is when i walked home later that night, i saw another tree that fell in the same fashion just two blocks down. except it didn’t damage a building, but instead completely crushed another car. too bad i didn’t think of taking a picture.. that would have been a more dramatic image to share.

apparently there were trees falling down all over the city. not just in kelton. i wonder what’s happening…

last but not least, my brother’s birthday cake. my mom made it from scratch!
