Paper Hearts

my last home

out of boredom i decided to create a blue print of our house back in indonesia. it was pretty hard to remember since it’s been close to 9 years (!) since i last saw it.

this is the downstairs part:

i moved here when i was in 5th grade or so. my siblings and i were too scared to sleep by ourselves upstairs, so we all slept in the master bedroom with my parents. the backyard isn’t quite what most Americans are used to. it wasn’t huge, and my dad tiled it so we had no grass. to the north of it is a neighbor’s house so we had a really tall wall (two stories tall) so none of us can see into each other’s houses. from the backyard you can look up to the sky, but we covered the “sky” part with screens to prevent people from breaking into our house from above. we were either paranoid or it was just that unsafe there.

this is upstairs. when i was in 8th grade i grew up and moved to room 1. i moved the other queen bed we have into that room and moved the bunk bed to room 2. my furniture was all white and pink at that time… it was so cute! my parents also let me have the stereo and i would play hanson/backstreet boys albums on cassette (we haven’t quite yet moved to CDs) and put up boy bands pin ups all over my wall. i was so 8th grade.

room 2 remains a storage since both my siblings still uses the master bedroom with my parents at that time. the living room has a TV and playstation. that’s where i used to play FFVII all day on the floor.

the part to the north of room 2 is an open space. you can’t really go to it unless you go downstairs and use the staircase next to the maid’s room. it was probably used to hang laundry (we didn’t have dryers), but we never used it.
