parasaito singuru

Date: Tuesday, September 18, 2007 Categories: food

interesting but mean things i learned from Anna:

anna: kurisumasu keki
anna: which refers to 25 year old girls who aren’t married yet and past their expectancy, like old christmas cakes that no one wants
anna: yay for mean japanese words
anna: courtesy of Japanese 101 class
anna: also learned about parasaito singuru (parasite single)
me: *hyper ventilates*
anna: haha, now that we think about it, we are parasite singles
anna: = people who live with their parents even when they are adults (hence like a parasite mooching off of someone)
me: AHAHAHA
me: SO MEAN

Japanese people are mean!! :P i don’t mooch off my parents much anymore though… although my mom cooks for me… and does my laundry for me… but that’s because my mommy loves me!!

Anyways, today i got paid, felt rich, and took Kat and Hwirin (her sister) out for some gooooood ol’ korean food made by Japanese people at Tofu-ya:

i lOVe korean side dishes!! OMG! the bean sprout and fish cake ones are my favorite. i go through that like crazy. the glass noodle one was good too. i don’t like kimchi that much, but i’d eat it.

my beef and mushroom soon doo bu (tofu). dude, talk about MUSHROOM. they put huuuuuuuge chunks of mushroom in there. they are served boiling hot over stone pot, so it’ll stay hot for awhile. you crack a raw egg over it and stir a little, then eat with rice while still scalding hot. my tongue is burnt now.

Pibimbap, aka, the best korean food EVER. it’s basically steamed white rice with seaweed, various vegetables, raw egg and beef on heated stone pot (so the egg wouldn’t be raw after a couple mins). in the pic above, the ingredients are already mixed because i forgot to take pics yet again, but they are originally served unmixed with the ingredients on top of the rice. then you mix everything together and add the korean red spicy paste thing. so simple yet so flavorful. love lOve love.

we also ordered tae ji bulgogi (pork korean BBQ) but i was way too into my meal to take pictures. according to kat it was one of the best she’s ever had and that says a lot because she’s korean and actually cooks GOOD korean foods.
