WordPress 2.6

so WordPress 2.6 was released today and i decided to finally upgrade! previously, i had the 2.1 version installed, so i thought an upgrade is long due anyway.

supposedly there is an easy way of upgrading wordpress, but i went about the long way. partly because i have been wanting to move this blog to its own subdomain (as you may have noticed, the url is now blog.melissahie.com instead of melissahie.com/blog). so i backed up my database and picture folder, deleted the whole wordpress folder and did a clean wordpress install. afterwards i imported the old database onto the new install. it worked almost perfectly, except my categories wouldn’t transfer over and i had to rename each one of them individually. although, the posts are still categorized correctly… so that’s nice.

i can’t figure out the URL redirection. so for now when you visit melissahie.com/blog, you get redirected to blog.melissahie.com/blog. *shrugs*

anyway, wordpress 2.6 is shiny~ i haven’t had the chance to play around with it too much, but i will eventually. the interface is quite different from 2.1 on a first glance, and there are a couple neat feature that i notice right away. pretty cool!
