Shopping + Eating day!

Yeah, I broke my string of daily updates yesterday :/ so from now on i’ll go back to posting whenever i have something to share… and today I do! :D

This morning me, mom and sister went out for our weekly grocery shopping, which took a good two hours of the morning since the place is always so crowded. by the time we were done with that, it was lunch time so we went to the food court upstairs. We ordered a bunch of stuff and shared it:

Tahu Gejrot. This is fried tofu with watered down sweet soy sauce, raw onion and chili. soooo good!!

Siomay = fish cake, tofu, peanut sauce, chili sauce and sweet soy sauce.

Pempek = deep fried fish cake with boiled egg in the middle, drenched in watered sweet soy + vinegar sauce and served with sliced cucumber. usually comes with cold egg noodles as well, but this one doesn’t.

Soto Bogor. some sort of noodle soup with spring roll, cabbage and tomatoes.

After that lunch, we stopped by another place within the same building in search for this snack that my mom and sister were craving. My mom made us drink this:

I think these are tumeric? some sort of herb that Indonesian believe is good for your health. I hate the taste, but it was bearable. I drank it all :x

Bolu Kukus. this is the snack my sister was looking for! i think it’s best described as… steamed cake? sounds odd, but it’s very good! it has this rich, velvety texture and fragrant taste.

Anyway, as I mentioned before, I don’t shop much here since I haven’t found a favorite place yet (last shopping trip was in MARCH for god’s sake!). so after eating we left to Grand Indonesia since I’ve been missing Forever 21 and this is the only place you can find F21 in Indonesia.

Grand Indonesia’s parking lot has one of those parking spot indicator light. It turns green if the parking spot is free and red if it’s not. I saw this for the first time when I was still back in LA last year! Pretty impressive that we have the same technology here as well.

I bought this top and a layered necklace (not pictured). i love how the top looks normal from the front but has these cute embroidered open back. now i just need to find a nude colored tank top to wear underneath. then later on when i got home, i found out Forever 21 inflates their price like crazy here in Indonesia. I spent about $32 today but if I shopped in the US it would only be $18!! -_- SO lame… i felt ripped off, however I also got my sister a super cute top from MANGO for her birthday and that turned out to be a good buy! she had been lusting over this top since a month or so ago, but it was kinda expensive. today we found it marked down 50%! ^^
