The Apartment

Date: Sunday, August 9, 2009 Categories: food

Last week I took my sister out to The Apartment, which is located just 10 mins walk from where we live in Kuningan area. It’s a cool concept for a restaurant – they model each part of the restaurant after parts of apartments – living room, dining room, bathroom, etc.

The Apartment - Menu

The menu looks like morning newspaper.. with real articles about the place on the front page!

The Apartment - Bathroom

We requested for non-smoking area so we were seated in the bathroom section. They had bath tubs and mirrors and the whole place was tiled with bathroom-like floorings.

Anyway, I was really hungry at that time so I went safe and just ordered whatever caught my eyes first.. SALMON! I ordered Salmon Fettuccine.

The Apartment - Salmon Fettuccine

The portion was quite small, and to be honest it was just “okay”. The pasta sauce itself was good, but I have yet to find a place that cooks salmon well here. They just never blend quite right with whatever they were served with and there is always this fishy taste to it…

My sister ordered a prawn risotto dish, but we were quite disappointed by it. I dislike shrimp / prawn /anything that resembles it so I only tried the risotto, which tasted like regular over-cooked rice… I thought risotto was supposed to be sticky and dense?

Attacking Me Food!

Attacking me foods! For drinks, I got pineapple juice which was so nice and refreshing!

The Apartment - The Bill

At the end of the meal, they served our bill in an envelope like jacket. I thought that was a nice touch :)

Overall I guess it was a nice and unique atmosphere, but I won’t be back. The food was just too mediocre for its price and aside of the decor, nothing else really stood out. The whole meal for two costed about Rp 250,000 (about $25), which I think is pricey by Indonesian standard considering you could get meals for $2 here.

  • Hmm, your blog got me all excited about trying to eat at that place – but then I was shot down because you stated you weren’t coming back. =(

Maybe you are super critic when it comes to eating at Indo restaurants? Maybe? *don’t hurt me
