Reed Diffuser

Date: Sunday, April 10, 2011 Categories: home

Lately I’ve been obsessed with the idea of making my room smell better. So i searched for whatever options I have, which basically came down to essential oil + oil burner or spritz.

Oil Burner is probably the most popular method as it gives off the most fragrance and the candlelight can be quite romantic, but it wasn’t right for me as I want something that lingers 24/7 and doesn’t require me to light a candle every time I want to enjoy the fragrance. Spritz are fine, but again the smell runs out pretty quickly.

That’s when I found out about reed diffuser, which is apparently the latest trend in home fragrancing (if there is such word). The way it works is you put some essential scented oil in a jar and stick these rattan reed sticks, which has a bunch of tiny holes inside it. The oil will then get sucked up into the reed sticks, which will then help diffuse the smell throughout your room, all day, 24/7. Perfect!

So I went and bought a cheap $2 diffuser from Daiso, threw out the oil (it was yucky) and replaced it with The Body Shop’s Raspberry Pomegranate oil.

So here’s my little reed diffuser! It’s been doing a great job making my room smell good and requires very little maintenance. You just place it somewhere in your room, let it do its job and flip the sticks every week or so. I do find that the smell isn’t as strong as oil burners, but it works all the time! I love walking into my room to the sweet smell of raspberry pomegranate :)

When this runs out, I think I will buy the actual diffusers since that’s more economical (4 fl oz for $45 – i bought 3 small 0.3 fl oz bottles for $20).
