German Sunday Brunch @ Paulaner Bräuhaus
My friend Tulika mentioned about a German brunch place at Suntec area a few months back. After much delay and anticipation, we finally set out to try it today.
Paulaner Bräuhaus is apparently very famous for the pork knuckle and excellent food. Everyone I asked have given me positive feedback, which makes me even more excited to try this place! They are located at Millenia Walk near Pan Pacific Hotel and right across of Suntec Convention Center, which makes it a bit out of the way from the usual central area, but it was quite packed on Sunday afternoon so I’d suggest making reservation before coming here.

Their restaurant is located on the second floor, while their pub is downstairs. I was a bit confused at first when I walked into their empty pub until one of the bartenders directed me to take the lift up for brunch. The restaurant area is quite impressive with their super high ceiling and Bavarian decor.

Plate #1 – Tulika and I nose dived into the main entrees and filled our plates with a ton of meat. ALL, and i do mean ALL of them were so good! the mashed potatoes were quite well done as well, which makes me happy :D

Plate #2 – Apparently, as our resident German Ruben informed us later, in traditional German brunch you’d have the pretzel and steamed sausage with sweet mustard first… so I had that for my second plate instead :P

Plate #3 – yeah, as you can see i’ve pretty much given up by the third plate, but I had to have that last plate because… the meat you see above? That’s their famous pork knuckle. Just one bite and I knew right away why it was famous.

It was like…. HEAVEN. the pork knuckles were crispy on the outside, soft in the inside and came with a burst of flavor on each bite. It’s no wonder each time they bring a new tray out, it would quickly run out. That’s the reason why I didn’t have it until my last plate (and am severely regretting not having it earlier)

Just a small portion of the dessert plate we ended up sharing with the table. All of them were excellent!

Perfect Sunday with perfect company :) Although all of us did have a hard time rolling out of the place after. we were stuffed to the brim!
The brunch costed us S$55 per person with free flow of Paulaner beer (we got 15% discount with Citibank card). And I’d say that was well worth it, given the quality and quantity of food we had.
