I went to 313@Somerset today to check out the ZARA sale. It was absolutely packed as expected. I didn’t even bother with their clothing since those needs to be tried on, and the queue for the dressing room was as long as rapunzel’s hair. So, I got a pair of cute ankle boots instead! kind of a splurge even with the discounted price, but I can’t wait to wear them out :D

Anyway, Orchard Central was just next to 313, so I decided to stop by there for dinner since i knew Everything With Fries opened their fast food branch there with a new menu, appropriately named EwF.

The OC outlet is very cute with white and pink as their dominant color. Service was fast and swift, like a true fast food place and they seem to get a good flow of people coming in and out of the place. the staff were also nice, they’d say “Happy Fries day!” when you order, which I find rather endearing.

Their burgers are $6.90 – $7.90 as you can see above and if you wanted a meal with fries and soft drink it’ll set you back $11.90. I personally think they need to revise their price a bit since people aren’t going to be too happy having to pay additional $5 only for only fries and drinks in a “fast food” setting…

I debated between getting the super burger or fish sandwich, but in the end I tried to be “healthy” and went with the Seared Fish sandwich, which if I remember correctly was topped with mushroom cream sauce (so not-so healthy anyway). I got a meal since I wanted some Salt and Vinegar fries as well.

Close up of the sandwich. Sorry for the lack of focus… YOU try holding a burger on one hand and taking pics with the other while hungry!

The fish sandwich was good. The meat was very soft and it just melts in your mouth. also think the mushroom sauce goes very well with the fish. I’m a huge fan of white fish (or fish in general, really) so this sandwich gets a thumbs up from me!

So with this, I’ve officially been to all three of EwF’s outlet (see my blog about the Holland V and Joo Chiat branch)! I dunno if i’ll be back to the other two outlets as they are a bit out of reach for me, but I’ll most likely frequent the OC outlet since I go to orchard to shop a lot. Next time I will try the super burger! :)

Ever since I left LA 1.5 years ago, I haven’t been to a yakiniku / k-bbq place. mostly because i believe nothing beats the value and taste of the korean BBQ from k-town in LA (I’m still dearly missing those $25 all you can eat BBQs!)

That is, until I met up with my friend Elyse and she introduced me to Toranomon at Grand Indonesia. Elyse is yet another one of my online friends that has become an irl friend. We first met up in Singapore, and have since then constantly meet up whenever she’s in Singapore (which has been almost every month now), but oddly we never met up whenever we’re in Jakarta. I don’t really like going out in Jakarta due to the traffic and the fact that I’m mostly unfamiliar with the city, and also having to depend on someone else for transport (major turn-off for me). Elyse is a total foodie, especially when it comes to Japanese cuisine, so I fully trust her when she says we’re going to try a yakiniku place that is expensive, but GOOD.

Anyway, Toranomon is located in the super huge mall that is Grand Indonesia. Whenever I go there, i’m bound to find a section of the mall that i’ve never been to, just because it was that huge!

We immediately ordered some korean pancakes (not pictured), edamame (the green beans you see on the left) and a bunch of meat since Elyse has HSBC card and they’re doing an awesome 1-for-1 promo. I don’t remember what we ordered anymore because it’s been awhile, but they were ALL GOOD. You just can taste the quality of the beef on the first bite. I was in heaven!

The beef also came with two types of pre-cooking dipping sauce: salty and sweet. I mostly prefer sweet for the thicker meat and salty for the thin brisket meat. Then, you’re also given two types of after-cooking dipping sauce, which were also sweet and salty. I forgot which one I prefer on this one.

The meal set us back about Rp 300,000 each, which roughly translates to just above USD30. and this is with the 1-for-1 promo discount and the fact that we’re eating in a country where I spent USD10 on lunch for three, so yeah.. it was quite pricey. Will I go back? well yes, definitely. I just wish they aren’t that expensive and/or the 1-for-1 promo would last awhile.

They had a CUTE furikake holder! I WANT ONE! furikake is a type of dry condiment that you spread on top of white rice for a subtle extra flavor.

Afterwards, we went to visit a section of the mall that has rows of independent designers and unique stores with cute things in it. We walked away with a mystery box of tokidoki frenzies charm, which I’m now obsessing over.

I ended up with the momobella one, which i’m pretty happy about but I must have the latte milk box one!!

yes, it has been officially released – literally minutes ago! upon seeing the new version, code-named Thelonius, of course I immediately upgraded my own blog :D

dashboard-wise, on the blue theme, i’m not noticing any major difference except for minor UI things (like the “view site” button is missing, the “right now” tab is styled slightly different, etc). But, looking at the codex page you can see they’ve added tons of new features. the multi-site management is an exciting one since i’m sick of having to create separate installation for each site i want to manage. then there is also the custom post type and menu management feature, which i’m excited to explore on my next blog theme!

WordPress sure has come a long way since they first started. I believe I’ve been with them since version 1.2, which is their second release ever, back in 2004.

anyway, enough nerding out. i have lots to update for this blog but now is not the right time. I need to get my life together first before I put anything on this public space.

wish me luck! :x

oh! I did go for a haircut today at Shunji Matsuo Studio in orchard rd. This is my second time getting a haircut there and I’ve been nothing but pleased with them. I’ll write a review soon =)

LooOoove them! it makes me so happy everytime i look at them. i was worried the shoes might be too much bling at first (rows of sequins AND crystals), but i loved the style so much that i didn’t care.

elyse got a super cute pair of flats, too bad they skipped her size. thankfully the sales girl called another branch which happen to have that size in stock, so we went to Bugis junction to retrieve them. at the Bugis branch, I fell in love with this bag and just had to get…

After being called “hairy” by many beauticians at different places (even the ones that don’t offer threading/tweezing, so you know they ain’t lying!), I’ve finally had enough and decided to go for it: do a full-face threading at Browhaus.

It’s a common knowledge that anything that involves tweezing / threading hurts like a mother, especially when you’re not used to it. i’ve obviously lost sense on my eyebrows as i tweeze them regularly (or try to), but other areas on my face would be receiving their first-ever threading. So i braced and prepared myself mentally for the pain as I made my way over to Holland Village.

A full-face threading consist of forehead, eyebrow shaping, side-burns, cheek, upper lip… basically all over your face where you might have hair, even the teensy weensy ones that aren’t so noticeable. My therapist (Komathy) was quick and the procedure perhaps lasted about 30 mins. So thanks to her i’m happy to report that they’re less painful than I had expected… except for the upper lip area. I literally had tears in my eyes as I got them done and silently prayed that it will be over soon T_T

The result was very nice – my face is definitely smoother and clean. It’s not a dramatic change since even though I was “hairy”, I wasn’t growing a beard or anything. they tell me I should get it done every 6 weeks or so and the hair will begin to get thinner. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but I will definitely be back for eyebrow tinting and threading =)

Okay, I have been seeing these Le Pommier shoes around the net since back in 2007-2008 ish when I was still in the states, and always drooled over them as I love love love nearly all of their cute illustration designs, but unable to buy one since as far as i know they are only sold in Singapore and Shanghai.

So fast-forward two years later – I’m living in Singapore and have pretty much forgotten about the shoes, until last week when I browsed around Central at Clarke Quay and spotted one of the Le Pommier outlets! I can’t believe they’re located at one of my most frequented area and I’ve never seen them until now…

Today I went over to Central again to meet a friend and chill in his company pool, so afterwards I made sure to stop by the store and got my hands on these babies:

So damn adorable. It was basically love at first sight for me! It didn’t take me long to decide getting it (I was in the store for only maybe 15 mins?). I was actually debating between this one and a pair of flats with cute witch crystal designs and stars and moon cut outs, but the flats make my feet look mickey-mouse-like with the very rounded toe…

From the little information I got via google, Le Pommier only has two outlets in Singapore, in Bugis Junction and Clarke Quay. They are also known as “No Concept But Good Sense” or “No Concept by Ameber” in Shanghai, though I believe they are Japanese from the cutesy style and the hiragana characters on the store logo. Their prices are a bit steep but they ARE 100% leather and only one pair per size per design are made. After learning that I just HAD to get one myself! :D There is just something alluring about being the only one that wears a particular shoes in my size.

The girl who helped me says that the style I got is very new and only available in this one design so far. I hope they will make more since I love the narrow toe! It makes your feet look cute and more sophisticated.

So ever since I got my blackberry last year, i’ve been on the look out for a good cellphone charm to accessorize it with.

Well, i MUST be picky because it literally took me MONTHS to find one that I like. and it’s not like i wasn’t on the look-out for one. I’ve visited soOoOo many of those cutesy morning glory asian gift stores, like literally every chance I get, and I always come out empty handed.

but at last, i found one that i like enough to go back and actually buy (the first time around i didn’t have any money on me so i couldn’t get it). i found my charm at a cute girly girl store called Phoebe & Chloe in Grand Indonesia

I love this charm because they actually look like a cupcake (the whip cream is SO realistic looking) and isn’t made of cheapo material. it’s made of this rubbery material and has a good weight to it.

The size is a bit too big for me and I don’t like how Bold only lets you put a charm on the bottom, but it looks so damn cute that I just don’t care. they had other colors like pink, green and chocolate (so it looks even more realistic) but I just had to get the purple one because it matches my casing.

i’m so happy! :)

FINALLY got my hair cut and colored. It’s probably the most I’ve ever spent on my hair, but I love it! =) The last time I had a haircut was back in August, so you know it’s long overdue.

The color is actually more subtle than pictured above, but definitely noticeable under sunlight.

Something like jello shots that I had with a few of my coworkers.. they all tasted bad except for the green one, which was minty. It’s not pictured above, however.

my landlords took me out for lunch one day over the weekend. They introduced me to duck rice, which was nice. I still prefer chicken rice though =)

stopped by a korean make up shop called “Etude” at the Orchard MRT station, to purchase an eyeliner i’ve been eyeing (har har). and then while i was there I also picked up this bling silver nail polish which makes me ridiculously happy.. I feel so lady gaga wearing it.. :)

had dinner with one of my cousins who is visiting from Aussie. We went to this japanese place called Tampopo at Takashimaya. There was a line to get INTO the restaurant, so they must be quite popular? I ordered stone grilled beef curry, which was yummy! They put melted cheese and raw egg on top and I was quite surprised that the cheese actually worked so well with the japanese curry flavor :9

The Face Shop nail polishes and a french manicure!

Ever since I was little I’ve had this bad habit of biting my nails whenever I’m bored or nervous. Because of this I never really cared for my nails, but then a couple months ago I decided to stop and start growing my nails so they don’t look so ugly all the time! but even so, I didn’t really take care of them aside of the usual cleaning / trimming whenever needed.

While I was in Malaysia i found these on sale for 3.90RM each… about $1.25! I thought it was a steal b/c i remember seeing The Face Shop stuff in Jakarta and these usually go for about Rp 30,000 = $3.

Left to Right: Nail Color BK902, Nail Color OR204, Nail Top Coat, Nail Color WH002

BK902 is a really cute color.. a white-silvery transparent with color loose tiny silver glitters. it’s actually pretty sheer until you put a couple coats. the OR204 one is the same, but it actually goes on salmon pink if you put no base on your nails and the glitters are iridescent. the top coat is pretty nice.. so far my nail polish hasn’t chipped yet after two days. the WH002 is just a regular matte white which I use to mimic french manicure effect.

BK902 after a about 2-3 coats. i want more glitter!

later i bought one of those stickers to help do the tip. the result is… well, messy (it was hard!) but i like this color combination! i will practice until i get better at this whole “nail tip color” thing.

Thus the obsession with nail stuff begins…

anyway, i finally got a haircut (first in like 2 yrs) and decided to get a french manicure while i’m at it. it was my first time getting a manicure ever. i must say i like this clean look, and how the manicure process was done. the girl who did my nails was a pro or something.. she didn’t use sticker / tape to do the white tip!

btw the shiny oily stuff around my nails is baby oil.
