We ordered so much food! what’s pictured above isn’t even half of what we ordered. the food had to come in phases because we sat at this small table that could barely fit the four of us. anyway, my favorite has got to be the fragrant rice (the two brownish rice on top) and the century egg porridge (at the bottom). I can eat that rice ANYTIME!

After the whole feast, we sat around digesting and finally got up and got on the MRT to Dhoby Gaut to catch Toy Story 3. The next viewing isn’t until a couple hours later, so we wandered around the mall for a bit. Mike and I found an arcade to play Rock Band, so we did that for an hour while Will and Parissa explored the mall some more.

Toy Story 3 was highly entertaining. I think it’s one of the few movies that didn’t jump the ship even after its second installments like many movies did (Shrek, The Matrix, Rush Hour… Air Bud..? ok I’m running out of examples here). I laughed so hard at so many moments of the movie that my stomach was seriously hurting, in a good way.

After the movie we made our way to Orchard and had dinner at Pepper Lunch, where they give you raw ingredients on a very hot teppanyaki plate and you’re supposed to “cook” it yourself (aka push everything around until it’s cooked and add the sauce of choice)

I had the beef pepper rice with a side of mashed potatoes. Will order the beef again (yummmmmers!), but no more mashed potatoes. it had a weird sticky consistency and didn’t even TASTE like potatoes :x

by the time the movie had ended, i was a mess – my shirt was wet, my eyes were swollen and my hair was disheveled. i cried about as much as i did when i watched Marley & Me :( i even passed out after due to exhaustion after crying and completely missed the end of the US open!! then the next morning i woke up with swollen eyes =_=

anyway i was cleaning my camera out the other day because my 2GB memory stick is finally almost full and thought i should post these food pics.

Blueberry cheesecake

oreo cheesecake from Coffee Bean. i know they looked good, but really? i’m never getting anything but beverages at Coffee Bean. these cheesecakes were YUCKY. both of them!

one of my favorite traditional indonesian meal: Nasi Uduk! it’s coconut rice served with tempeh, tofu and chicken – all fried. also comes with some veggies and sambal (chili sauce). SO. GOOD. and all for just under $2 (usually even less!)

uhhh yeah, not sure what the rocker bear wannabe is doing there, but i took it off and gave it to my sister

anyway, i had a weird day today. i woke up really tired after about 6 hours of sleep. i should have gone back to sleep but i had to go and have dim sum breakfast with relatives at around 9am. so i went and did that, then took a nap from noon till 3pm. now i’m wide awake at midnight and have successfully messed up my sleeping cycle -_-

i watched Bridewars today while doing my freelance work, and that turned out to be more entertaining than i expected. i liked it even though it sounded so silly! i love Anne Hathaway as a chick flick actress :D

i found this useful article on how to get rid of the hack, and i’m changing all my passwords just in case. i don’t think anything were compromised… but even if it was, the passwords i used on this domain is thankfully my generic password, which does not work on my “important” stuff.

as you can see, everything is now fixed. i think i’ve removed everything mentioned on the article. i’ll also upgrade my wordpress version since obviously the one i am using right now (2.6) isn’t very safe!

anyway, what have i been up to lately? i have tons of pics to put up. here’s a quick preview:

• Went to Sarah Brightman concert with N on Dec 20th. LOTS OF PICS to come! she was awesome :)
• Went to a couple holiday parties, also with N and my family (honestly, from now on whenever i do stuff you can safely assume it’s with N and/or my family. i’ve been a hermit. i haven’t even seen Kat since my NYC trip, which was like.. what, two weeks ago?!)
• Was sick this week. yes, even on christmas
• splurged on karmaloop.com sale! was pissed when i found out today they raised the discount to 60% off. i bought stuff when it was 50% off >:( anyway, i have a repcode if anyone wants to shop there! it’s ME6639
• Went to Christmas eve mass with family, then off to spend x-mas with N’s family. they got me gifts! :) so thoughtful! saw a couple of movies: Slumdog Millionaire, Curious Case of Benjamin Button, 7 pounds and Religuous (a documentary by Bill Masher). all were a worth while watch.

anyway, MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!! i hope yours were as great as mine :)

1. Grilled Chicken Sandwich at Roman’s

On Saturday, my family met up with family’s friends and had dinner here. Nico also came along and i’m happy to report he behaved quite well (hehe :D). I had the grilled chicken sandwich and he had BLT. I forgot what everyone else had, but it was a fun night of talking and socializing.

The sandwich was pretty good, but i LOVE LOVE LOVE the dressing they put on the mixed baby greens!! i dunno what dressing it is. Nico says they were italian but i’m not sure. it tasted a bit nutty and oh so yummy…

2. Build Your Own Burger at The Counter

Today (Sunday) I went to the counter with Kat. It’s a trendy burger place in Santa Monica where you can basically choose what you want to have on your burger: choice of meat, cheese, 4 toppings and sauce. I chose to have bunless 1/3 lbs beef burger on mixed baby greens, provolone, boiled eggs, corn and black beans salsa, grilled onion and tomatoes on mine. for the sauce, i chose sun-dried tomato vinaigrette, which makes for a good salad dressing.

i LOVE that you can choose bunless burgers here because i never actually eat the bun when i eat burgers/sandwiches. i know, i’m weird like that… i don’t like bread that much. i think they are unnecessary stomach filler.

anyway, my “burger” was more like salad as you can see above. i have to say though, it was pretty freakin delicious. on the first bite of the beef, i can really taste the charbroil taste. We also ordered half sweet fries half regular fries. I love sweet fries! :D

Before dinner, Nico and I met up with Kat at Brea to see Bolt. It was a cute movie with excellent animation!! then again, i would never hate a story with a dog as its main character. Story-wise I feel like it wasn’t quite up to par with Pixar’s movies with the likes of Wall-E and Ratatouille, but I would still recommend people to see this movie.

I also started up my netflix again. i wasn’t going to at first, but they were being sneaky and sent me a DVD… and i’m hooked again. They sent me Dark City (see IMDB page here), which I don’t even remember adding to my queue but ended up being a weird experience for me as it is almost the same idea i pondered in this post. in this movie a group of men called “The Strangers” build the world to their liking by “tuning” which is basically their willpower. see what i mean about running into the same idea over and over again?

anyway, i need to sleep. it’s about 1AM right now and i haven’t been able to sleep because i drank four cups of coffee at breakfast -_-

On thursday night, Nico came up to LA for a few celebrations and to watch X-Files with me :)

First stop: SUSHI at Sushi Zo! we’ve been trying to go to this place for the loooongest time but something always came up. finally we got to go that night :D

my personal favorites were the butter fish, baby tuna, yellow tail and the albacore (none of which are pictured above. i was too busy eating)

I watched The X-Files movie three times within the span of 24 hours. ummm, yea that’s a new record for me. I still have an $8.50 credit that I got from buying the DVD, so I’m watching it again sometime next week. I’m just so glad to see my agents back again!

anyway, other than that, my life has been preoccupied by FFIV. finally a new RPG to play!! :D :D my character is around lvl 25ish right now. i need to level up because the upcoming dungeon is going to be pretty tough

I’m giving the other Batman-s a chance though… I caught a showing of Batman Forever the other day on TV, which was pretty entertaining. definitely more light-hearted and comic-book like (for one, it has more color than Nolan’s movies!). for a second i thought Val Kilmer was pretty hot, but then i googled his name and found a more recent picture of him. um yeah, not so much anymore.

Next on my netflix list is Batman Returns, which I had watched when I was little. till this day i still remember Penguin’s scary ass face despite not remembering much about the movie. that guy really scarred me for life or something. then the last Batman movie i want to watch is Batman & Robin, which people have referred to as the worst one of all. i really cannot imagine George Clooney as Bruce Wayne, so that’ll be “interesting” to watch…

one thing for sure though, i cannot wait for Dark Knight to come out on DVD! :D

anyway, the movie it self? it was… quite frankly one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. I was scared that my expectations were too high going into the movie (had been reading good reviews) but it did not disappoint. I’m totally a batman girl now and pretty much scared of clowns. wtf!

that night i saw the movie again with Kat… so yeah, i watched it twice within 24 hours. we kinda made a bad move of spontaneously deciding to watch the movie 30 minutes before it’s screening but i’m just glad i got to see it again. by the time i got to westwood to save spots for Kat, the line had already wrapped around the block and then some (i got to the end of the line in front of In-N-Out).

… plus thights (to go with legwarmer), some socks (to be worn with black boots), a dress and a jacket. i’ll be returning some of them though after seeing how they fit. that’s why i don’t like online shopping… i need to try stuff on before buying them!

anyways, I FINALLY saw Juno yesterday! it was very good, just as everyone had said. i really hope Ellen Page, the girl who plays Juno herself, wins the Oscar this year cause she totally deserved it! I don’t know any of the other people who are up against her though. Her acting was very honest and she compliments all of her co-stars very well. After watching this, I put Hard Candy on my netflix list cause she’s in it and i *have* been wanting to watch that movie since it first came out.

oh yeah, which brings me to my next point. i caved in and signed up for netflix. they are lightning fast with their deliveries, so i think i’ll keep it. i’m over downloading stuff. the first thing i put on my list was Brokeback Mountain, in memory of Heath Ledger (RIP). i criiiiiied watching that movie! :( and next up on my list is Pursuit of Happyness, which will make me cry even more. i just know it from the trailer.

My FBI agents! my heroes!! omgomgomg!! :D how i’ve missed them… M looks very casual here. while we already know the movie won’t be about the alien mythology (thank GOD) there are still some speculations regarding the time line of the movie. does it take place after the show or during the show? because if it’s AFTER then M&S can’t be back with the FBI, thus explains the relatively casual clothing they are wearing.

i just died at this picture. this is SUCH a classic X-Files stills. S looking over M’s shoulder to the computer screen, probably at some grotesque picture of a murder scene, or a native american navajo scripture. wait, that would be part of the mythology. ohhh the good ol’ days.

just to give you an idea of how obsessed i was (am?): back in my hey day, if you had described to me a general storyline of an episode, i would have been able to give you the episode title, the season it was in, and the number of the episode. now i’m a bit rusty but i *think* can still do episode titles… save the first two seasons.

sooOoo *big long sigh* is it July yet??? i’ll stop babbling now.
