2010 meant a lot for me. It marks my first year of delving into the advertising industry, of my living alone in Singapore, and last but not least my second year away from Los Angeles. I’ve always thought 2010 passed by so damn fast that I can’t seem to remember anything, but thankfully I have a blog and damn, a LOT happened!

Let’s recount them, in chronological order:

I suppose I became obsessed with food blogging, since that’s all I seem to be blogging about. I was quite diligent about it up until I got too busy with my second job.. but I suppose I did pretty well till then.

Yup, speaking of which.. I had two jobs in 2010. When I first came to Singapore I was working for my first advertising job, at Publicis Modem Singapore. I learned a lot, met super cool colleagues and got my first taste of working for international brands – I really couldn’t ask for more! Then, around May, another opportunity with another agency came up and being the ever restless, I took it without much thinking. It turned out to be a good decision and I’m learning a TON of life-long lessons from my current job. This year work also became the utmost priority in my life.

I did a lot of travelling aside of my regular trips back home to Jakarta. In March I went on my first business trip to Bangkok with my first agency. We worked for a week and played on the weekend :) I fell in love with Thailand, hard. In May I went with a group of friends to Pulau Ubin, which is still part of Singapore but you have to take a ferry to get there so I’ll count that as a trip. In July, I went back to Jakarta with my friends Will and Mike, where I got to explore the city from a completely different perspective. Very fascinating. In October, i went back to Thailand, this time to Phuket with my friends Christina and James. This was truly one of the most memorable vacation I’ve ever had. In November, I went on an impromptu weekend trip to Desaru with Mai and Bianca. I don’t have a blog post because this is around the time of the year where my blogging has slowed down considerably, and I didn’t even bring a camera with me :(

So that’s the superficial summary of my 2010. I hope 2011 will bring me lots more life experience and travels! :D I already have a Hongkong / Taiwan trip planned at the end of this month!

For me, 2009 has been a sucky year. the ongoing theme was definitely “change” and not in the obama kind of way.

In January, I moved back to Asia (more specifically Jakarta) after spending close to 10 years in California. I’ve never really talked about it aside of with my close friends or within the confinement of my private journal, but it was a very tough change for me.

Then, as if moving halfway across the globe and leaving some of my closest friends behind wasn’t enough to do for one year, in November i moved again to Singapore. This time I moved all by myself and I didn’t really know anybody there, which I thought wouldn’t be a problem since I had always been somewhat self-sufficient. Well, to put it simply, I wasn’t as strong as I had thought, but I AM blessed to have wonderful friends to keep my sanity and to meet amazing characters that helped me along the way.

January

Met up with relatives i hadn’t seen for close to 14 years!! they live in Hongkong and rarely comes back.

February

Took a week trip to bali to watch my brother play golf, but also did some touristy things while i’m there

March

Visited Singapore! fell in love with the country and decided i’ll do whatever it takes to move there. This is the white tigers from the zoo:

Met up with friends from Junior High. they haven’t changed :)

April

Met another relatives I hadn’t seen in close to 10 years.

May

Started working for a golf tournament that takes place in July. This is taken outside of the building where I sometimes work from:

June

Celebrated my sister’s birthday at pepenero!

Caught my brother on tv some time this month. it was a tournament that took place in March.

July

The golf tournament took place. That’s basically what we were busy with all month long. Here’s me setting up a power point presentation that was made the night before…

Finally tournament day comes. one of the craziest, most fun week ever! I lost about 4kg that week alone…

August

Went to Malaysia to watch my brother play again :)

Also took a trip back to my mom and dad’s hometown, Cirebon

September

Started looking for jobs in Singapore, so I flew there twice. Changi Airport is one of my favorites :)

Then took a trip to Macau! SO MUCH FUN! i’d like to go again some day

October

Still in Jakarta, waiting around for my employment pass to be approved. It was “Lebaran” time in indonesia, and Jakarta was pretty much deserted. so me and a couple friends took this chance to explore the city around since there were no traffic!

Also decided to purchase a Blackberry :) best decision ever!!

November

My employment pass was finally approved and I moved to Singapore mid-November. Just in time for the holiday decorations to be put up!

Started my new job as well..

December

My cousin got married! one of the very few times I get dolled up..

January

opened the year with a bunch of visitors coming to my domain. i think it was the first time this ever happened

Met a couple online friends for dinner… we have been friends since about 10 years ago and it was the first time we’ve ever met! went to a french restaurant at Burbank and had yummy yummy foods.

February

was crazy about my DS :) yay Professor Layton and the Curious Village! here’s my KH skin that i made for my R4.

chinese new year party! :) i love that dress!

going to medieval times to eat food with our hands and watch the show.

March

went to Orchid Ball with Nico! the theme was Fantasea and we went on a yacht!

St Patty’s day with elisa and friends, where we went to three different places in one night

Vegas for his bday! stayed in Bellagio and he took me out to the restaurant in Paris.

April

had korean BBQ twice this month within 1 week!! =O

went to mini golf! got my butt kicked.

i was also crazy about The World Ends With You this month.

May

went to beach with a bunch of people

June

saw David Duchovny at LA Film festival!

new phone, nokia 5310. i still love this phone to pieces.

July

hung out at the annual block party with N

went to Sushi Zo! yummmyy… then to THE X-FILES PREMIERE!

August

saw kristen bell at westwood

celebrated the olympic opening 08/08/08!

sooo yeup, 2008 was yet another wonderful year for me. things started off pretty rocky in the beginning, but it ended marvelously. i’m deeply thankful for everyone who has touched my life this year. 2009 is going to be a crazy year with MAJOR change, which i am not yet ready to blog about.. but if i could keep strong, i’ll get through it all. hopefully.
